John Graham's Key

The Claverhouse Estates to which John Graham succeeded as the seventh laird included not only those lands based around Claypotts Castle near Dundee but also a house and estate at Glen Ogilvy in the Sidlaw Hills, northern Perthshire. All of 'Bonnie' Dundee's estates were, after his act of treachery, forfeit to the crown in 1789 before being dispersed to those who had been loyal to the cause of the King William.

The estate at Glen Ogilvy, near Glamis Castle came into the hands of the Lyon family. The smallest item in the case of relics containing objects that had belonged to John Graham was the key to the barn door beside the house at Glen Ogilvy, which has long since vanished.
