Weymss Castle Steading

Weymss Castle has an early 19th century  home farm, courtyard and stables castellated and ornamented with cross arrowslits and a ruined arch and a tower. James Wyatt's nephew Lewis designed a Gothick gateway and lodge for William Weymss and exhibited these at the R.A. Exhibition of 1808. Earlier in 1800 he had published a book of model estate buildings entitled "A Collection of Architectural Designs Rural and Ornamental". So it seems likely that Weymss Castle Steading was  his work.

At the entrance to the courtyard are gate piers with magnificent heraldic swan finials.
